Funny Money playing @ Whittier Community Theatre : June 1 – 16


Henry Perkins gets quite a birthday surprise when he discovers he has picked up someone else’s briefcase in the subway and instead of boring papers and a half-eaten sandwich he’s got a case full of money. The money is clearly someone’s ill-gotten gains, so Henry’s plan is to grab the wife and fly to Barcelona to start a new life. But Life has other plans and the next two hours will be the most hectic and hilarious ever committed to paper. Synopsis taken from site.

Much is made in David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People of the notion of equality of opportunity; that is, anyone who works hard enough can get ahead in America. Then the rest of the play goes on to flatly disprove it.
