Blues in the Night @ Laguna Playhouse – Review

Make of this what you will, but to me, the “blues” was only something that plays in the background while at restaurants (quietly of course so as not to distract from the table chatter).  I couldn’t help but feel underwhelmed at the prospect of spending an evening attending a show called Blues In The Night.  Yet once the show began, my biases were proven completely unfounded. Almost against my will, I was lured into the music and into the lives of the characters onstage.  Though I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as ‘riveting’ all the way through, Blues In The Night varies in range, tempo, and soul.  It is one of the most pleasant surprises I have had in a while. LEADERSHIP TRANSITION SLATED FOR THE LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE

The Laguna Playhouse announced today, a key leadership transition slated for 2016. Karen Wood, executive director will be leaving the Playhouse completing her 8th season at the 95 year old landmark institution.   As Executive Director, Ms. Wood has been instrumental in the programming and business model re-designs that successfully propelled the Playhouse through the challenging years of the deep financial recession.

Audition for A SNOW WHITE CHRISTMAS in Santa Ana – News

Auditions for children to play the dwarves in A SNOW WHITE CHRISTMAS at Westfield Main Place shopping Mall in Santa Ana on Sunday, October 4, 2015. With special guest judge, “So You Think You Can Dance” creator and judge Nigel Lythgoe.

Auditions will begin with sign in at 12pm 2800 N. Main St, Santa Ana, CA 92705. Be prepared to dance. A SNOW WHITE CHRISTMAS, directed by Chris Baldock, plays December 2-27 at the Laguna Playhouse. Michael Orland of “American Idol” will serve as musical director and Spencer Liff of “So You Think You Can Dance” and the current Broadway revival of Spring Awakening will serve as choreographer.
