THE FAIRY HOAX – Staged Reading
Book/lyrics by Tom H. Diggs
Music by Jay D’Amico
Directed by Tim Espinosa
Musical Direction by TBA
Performs: Jan. 22, 2016 at 8pm

The Fairy Hoax, a magical musical for the whole family, is a coming-of-age story about Dulcie, a thirteen-year-old girl in Yorkshire, England, who fakes photographs of fairies in order to save her relationship with her emotionally distant mother, a relationship which has been torn apart by the First World War. With the help of Francis, an eccentric male friend, Dulcie manages to create a series of photographs that not only cheer up her mother, but also enchant a nation. With the help of The Strand magazine, the children’s celebrity around the faked photos goes too far as Dulcie’s life becomes unbearable watching her mother go “round the bend.” And when she feels betrayed by her eccentric friend, Dulcie decides to stop all talk of fairies and give up her celebrity status in order to preserve what’s left of her family and her dignity.

Directed by Jenni-Lynn McMillian Brick
Performs: Jan. 8 ,2016 at 8pm

A group of five people are stranded in the Outback of Australia after the crash of a small site-seeing plane. With no hope of rescue they decide to attempt to walk back to “civilization.” Their vastly different backgrounds and temperaments complicate matters. Some have secrets, some have agendas and one has temporary amnesia. As they struggle to make their way back they quarrel among themselves and stay alive only through the help of the Aborigines whose presence is always felt but never seen.

TO CATCH A KINGFISH  – Staged Reading
by Queenelle Minet
Directed by Aurora Lizardi
Performs: Jan. 15, 2016 at 8pm

To Catch a Kingfish is an historical drama based on extensive research into the Restoration period (1660-1685). Written in the vernacular of the time, and making liberal use of the wit and humor for which this era is renowned, the play concerns the life of Nell Gwyn, a restoration actress, who despite being born a commoner, became the mistress of King Charles II. Though Charles had many mistresses, his relationship with Nell lasted 17 years, ending only when he died. Nell was, in all likelihood, Charles’ deepest and most enduring emotional connection.
