Man of La Mancha is the story of Miguel de Cervantes, aging, and an utter failure as playwright, poet and tax collector, who has been thrown into a dungeon of a prison in Seville to await trial by the Spanish Inquisition. There, he is dragged before a kangaroo court of his fellow prisoners. Based on The Adventures of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra, Man of La Manchais a comic tragedy of mankind’s struggle to better both himself and the world. Top Hat 8 Repertory presents : Legally Blonde The Musical @ The Village Theatre in Orange – Review

If you want an underdog story told in the most unorthodox way possible, look no further than Legally Blonde: The Musical. On its face the show is plastic nails and a shade of pink that makes Barbie look manly, but if you let it, the show can actually surprise you. There’s a lot of heart and a positive message about the power of diversity and the difficulties of being true to yourself when other people are saying something else.  The overall vocal talent of  Top Hat 8 Repertory’s cast cannot be denied, although multiple issues with the singing dynamics hamper the overall enjoyment of a truly spirited performance. AUDITIONS FOR NINE THE MUSICAL @ Costa Mesa Playhouse in Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa Playhouse announces open auditions for the first musical production of its 2015-2016 season, “Nine,” based on the Federico Fellini film “8 ½,” about an Italian film director plagued by a creative block and a web of romantic difficulties. Director – David Blair. Open auditions are Monday, December 14th from 6pm-9pm and Tuesday, December 15th from 6pm-8pm. Callbacks will be Tuesday December 15th, 2015 from 8pm-10pm. All roles are open. No appointments necessary. All ethnicities welcome. There is no pay. Auditions will take place at the playhouse, 661 Hamilton St., Costa Mesa 92627 (949-650-5269).
