Into the Woods and Happy Ever After!
Costa Mesa, CA (March 31, 2017) The Arts & Learning Conservatory is proud to present the Tony Award-winning musical Into the Woods Jr. from Friday, April 21-Sunday April 23rd at Segerstrom High Theater.
Our cast of 35 talented youths, aged from nine years old through early teens, were drawn from all over Orange County: Irvine, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Tustin, Fountain Valley and more. Watch them take on this energetic musical that includes many of your favorite characters: Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk!), and of course the Witch – all who meet and interact in this whimsical & original show. Step into adventure as their different stories intertwine with each other when they all journey into the woods.
The production is under the helm of director Jenny Moon Shaw with music direction by Erik Przytukski. Jenny says:
“With an unusually young cast of performers for a production of Into the Woods, I decided to approach the staging of this show with the focus on play-acting, storytelling, dreams, wishes and adventures. I am a massive advocate for children having access to the arts from a young age to allow them to develop their creativity and imagination and so as a cast, we produced the show through play and had our own little adventure.”
During the rehearsals, there is deep concentration and focus as the talented A&L cast gives the script and score of Into the Woods Jr. the attention and justice it deserves to ensure that the audience will truly enjoy every line and lyric. As the performance date draws closer there is an air of excitement, particularly now as the cast are coming together as a true family of talent!
