Costa Mesa Playhouse Looking For New Performance Space 2017
Written by Patrick Chavis
“We have been given notice that one of the two buildings we lease from the Newport Mesa School District, housing our dressing room and storage, will be demolished this summer. In addition, we will only be allowed to renew the lease on the theater building for one year until June 2017. The school district wants to turn our theater space into a tech center to teach the kids computers, etc.” – Costa Mesa playhouse President Mike Brown
If anyone knows any information or can help the Costa Mesa Playhouse in any way please contact Mike Brown @ his email duffs51@aol.com. Supporting theatre in Orange County for over forty years, the Costa Mesa Playhouse is an important and theatrically brave institution in the O.C. area. In our opinion Costa Mesa Playhouse put on one of the best shows period with their showing of Marriage of Bette & Boo last year. They have also taken on challenging material most community theatres would shy away from such as The Behanding in Spokane and most recently Nine. OCR hopes to see many more great productions from this theatre.
What they need is listed below :
1) storage space as we have to vacate the building by May 31;
2) a new theater space that we can move into June 2017 preferably in Costa Mesa.
