BREA, Calif. – The Curtis Theatre has unveiled its 2026-2027 season, featuring a mix of dramatic
theater, musical performances, and regional collaborations. The upcoming lineup continues the
theater’s focus on innovative partnerships and diverse storytelling through its Amplify series and
Page to Stage Playwright’s Festival and joint productions with local companies. Season Highlights
The season begins in August with An Evening of Latin Jazz featuring Gabrielito y La
Verdad on August 8, followed by the Page to Stage Playwright’s Festival from August 14-16,
which will showcase three new works.
In September, the theater presents Arthur Miller’s classic drama The Crucible from September
4–13, produced in association with The Larking House Theatre Company. This is followed by
the first Amplify program of the year, Criers for Hire by Giovanni Ortega, on September 20.
This production is a partnership with East West Players and Prizm Haus Productions.
October brings Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman’s musical Assassins from October 9–18,
presented with Southgate Productions. The month concludes with A Hollywood Horror Story,
written and performed by Ingrid Garner, as part of the Amplify series on October 25.
November features the Orchestra Collective of Orange County (OCofOC) in their program
Getting Personal on November 7, highlighting works by Butterworth, Fine, Ravel, and Wagner.
The holiday season begins with the return of Christmas with the Alley Cats from November
27–29, followed by It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, presented in association with
STAGEStheatre from December 17–20.The 2027 portion of the season starts in February with a musical production to be announced on November 1st, running February 12–28 in association with Southgate Productions. Spring programming includes OCofOC’s American Stories on April 24, featuring Dvořák and Puccini, and a 40th Anniversary Celebration for The Alley Cats on May 8–9.
The season concludes with four distinct events: A Lesson in Swimming, written and performed
by Michael Shutt as part of the Amplify program on May 16; The Assistant’s Magician, a new
magical musical by Naathan Phan from May 21–22; and OCofOC’s Summer Serenade chamber
concert on June 5. The final production of the year is a play to be announced, running June 18–
27 in association with Begins & Ends with A Productions.
