The Orange Curtain Award goes to those who dedicate themselves to the Orange County theatre community over the years. After discussion, there was little doubt this year’s recipients fit this description perfectly. We’ve decided to award Nick and Julie Charles of Stage Door Repertory the Orange Curtain Award for their devotion to theatre in Orange County, CA. Nick Charles has worked in Orange County theatre for more than two decades, first with the Yorba Linda Civic Light Opera and many other venues, including Camino Real Playhouse in San Juan Capistrano.

In 2011, Charles and Julie started Stage Door Repertory in Anaheim and provided theatre and entertainment to the community for years, only recently stopping because of financial difficulties. The community misses Stage Door tremendously, but its impact on theatre in Anaheim and Orange County is not forgotten, which is why we decided to give the award to Nick and Julie Charles this year.
