BREA, Calif. – The Curtis Theatre is proud to announce the return of the Page to Stage
Playwrights Festival for its seventh annual celebration of new works, taking place from August
14th to August 16th, 2026. Since its inception in 2018, the festival has been a vital platform for
powerful new plays that uplift, challenge, and connect audiences. Produced in partnership with
That’s What She Said Women’s Writers Collective, this annual event continues its mission to
highlight diverse female voices through bold storytelling by playwrights from across the country.
The 2026 festival will feature three compelling new plays, offering a range of genres and
narratives:
“Symbiotic” by Baylee Shlichtman An aquarist at the Jellyfish Museum in Kyiv tries to keep
the memory of her friend alive in the midst of the Russo-Ukrainian war. When a veteran starts to
frequent the museum, the two form an unlikely connection that will alter the course of their lives.
A play about cultivating hope and jellyfish.
“Vignettes from a Portal to Hell” by Dana Hammer When a portal to Hell opens up in an
agoraphobic woman’s backyard, the townspeople come to see it, each for their own reasons.
“The End of Sex (or What’s Wrong with Mom)” by Gay Walch All is not well in hetero
sexville. How consensual is consensual sex if long standing traditions favor male pleasure.
